Three recommendations to rethink processes with your hands

In the latest episode of the New Process Podcast, I spoke to Martin Hochreiter and Tobias Zucali, the founders of “mkrz lab” that gets people to think with their hands. But how can this be combined with BPM? What advantages can we draw from this for the New Process approach? Check out the video for their recommendations to rethink processes.

  1. Ask the right question and explore flexible solutions: The first and perhaps most crucial step is to ask the right question and clearly define what you truly want to achieve. But don’t stop there: leave the beaten path and be willing to search for answers in unexpected places. Often, the most innovative solutions are hidden off the straight and narrow, waiting to be discovered in the “bushes” around you.
  2. Co-create with a diverse group: Processes rarely operate in isolation—they typically involve a range of roles, departments, or even external partners. Success lies in bringing together these varied perspectives to create a comprehensive, shared vision. When people from different areas collaborate, they not only contribute broader viewpoints but also foster a strong sense of belonging and commitment.
  3. Turn the abstract into the tangible: Create prototypes: Abstract ideas and concepts can be challenging to grasp. That’s why it’s crucial to translate them into physical prototypes that you can see, touch, and experience. These tangible models make complex topics more understandable and allow everyone involved to truly grasp the concept. By bringing ideas to life, you make it easier to gather feedback and make the right adjustments—an essential step in developing and advancing innovative processes.
