How BPM can help prevent burnout

In the last episode of the New Process Podcast, Prof. Dr. Yevgen Bogodistov and I talked about the important issue of burnout. BPM can have a significant impact on preventing it. In the Video, he outlines the three things he recommends to do to help prevent this. He also gives some practical tips.

1. Understanding and Utilizing Psychological Resources:

  • Psychological resources are diverse and not always easy to convert.
  • In addition to gratitude, there are other ways to give back energy: Showing appreciation, offer support, granting days off, set up relaxation areas
  • Goal: Finding the right approaches to inspire and de-stress employees.

2. Early Detection of Psychological Issues:

  • Problems such as stress or conflicts should be identified early before they escalate into burnout.
  • Simple tools, like colored cups or the “Elevator” method, make communication easier and help spot early signs of strain.

3. Acknowledging Problems and Acting Strategically:

  • Presenting a clear vision for addressing the issue is essential, as even an imperfect strategy is better than having no direction at all → “even the wrong strategy is better than no strategy.”
  • Acknowledging the existence of problems is crucial, even though many managers hesitate to do so.
