As time flies by… ✈️
Today, one year ago, I published my then still five New Process Theses. A lot has happened since then and I would like to share with you an updated version of the ideas on how to rethink processes, which have now grown to eight New Process Principles.
I think, I have missed one important aspect when bringing New Work and BPM together in the past. Something like:
“Disrupt established processes: We are courageous to question and radically redesign well-established processes.”
I can’t believe the time has gone by so fast! Exactly one year ago, I wrote about New Process for the first time here on LinkedIn.
It has been a little bit more quiet for a few weeks since I have been on summer vacation with the family at Lake Garda. – What a lovely place on earth!
Nevertheless, I used the time in Italy to let the New Process Booster ripen further, so I can finally open the registration now! 🙂
I still remember the times when no one wanted to take ownership of processes and processes took on a life of their own apart from the actual business. Process ownership was a responsibility that no one wanted and that was not valued at all. Does that sound familiar to you?
Within the past weeks, I had the chance to introduce the New Process approach on several occasions and the discussions with the participants helped me to sharpen my view on this topic. Today, I would like to share my conclusion with you.
Have you ever thought about defining the purpose of your process? – Knowing why a process exist, will help you to push the process to the next level. The process purpose will guide all your activities and it will inspire and motivate to work in and on the process.
It is time for the next New Process Think Tank. This month, I would like to invite you to a session focused on the two phases “Define Process Purpose” and “Develop Process Strategy” of the New Process Life Cycle.
We have been discussing this question a lot within the past New Process Think Tanks end of 2020. It is our assumption that knowing the Purpose of BPM will inspire people for excellent processes and it will guide us to rethink processes in a more human-centric way. This is why we have applied the Process Purpose Canvas to BPM itself within several feedback cycles. – Of course, we do what we recommend to others for our own process, too.
